this joyous event is spread across several acres of beautiful lawn at the Ventura College Athletic Fields, and includes a spectacular fireworks show, live music, food vendors, a Kids Fun Zone, and what we like to call 'the friendliest hometown picnic in America'!
Now in its 24th year, the Ventura 4th of July Fireworks Show & Family Picnic is presented by the Ventura Rotary Club, and 100% of the event net proceeds benefit charitable community programs right here in Ventura!
Gates open at 5 pm. Fireworks show begins at approximately 9 pm. You may bring picnic items, including blankets, soft folding chairs, coolers and food. Small umbrellas are allowed, however pop-ups and large umbrellas are not allowed. Please remember: No glass. No alcohol. No pets. (See FAQs below for more details.)
Tickets are now available below (via Eventbrite) with advance-sale and "Family Pack" providing special savings! In late June, tickets will also be available at local Ventura area VONS stores! Tickets can also be purchased at the event gates.
The fireworks show and family picnic culminates a patriotic day of community celebration here in Ventura, beginning with the children's Pushem - Pullem Parade on Main St. and the annual downtown Street Fair. For information on those events, visit cityofventura.net/streetfairs
because this day is sure to be a blast! The Kids Zone will have several bounce houses and GIANT inflatable attractions, plus organized games for kids to enjoy. Several food trucks and cart vendors will be serving up sweet treats and seriously good eats!
This year will be extra-special thanks to the dedication of our volunteers and the generosity of our event sponsors; notably, Community Memorial Health System, the Ventura Auto Center, and Hofer Properties. Thank you sponsors! (See full list below) The picnic entertainment will include a DJ, robotics demonstration with giveaways, and great live music!
The fireworks show is custom designed for us by the California-based award-winning experts at Pyro Spectaculars! Much more than a prepackaged show shipped from China and roughly set to music, this “Sky Concert” will feature over 3,000 firework effects finely choreographed to a contemporary musical mix. You can expect many “oos” and “ahs” and a front seat to an incredible fireworks show – oops, or should we say, “Sky Concert”!
Tickets are now available below (via integration with Eventbrite.) You can then print ticket at home or show it on your phone. Pre-sale tickets are $6 adult, $4 child (4-12 years) - plus processing fees. BEST VALUE "Family Packs" are available online ONLY - and only until 5pm on July 4th!
Beginning in late June, tickets can be purchased at Ventura area VONS grocery stores at pre-sale rates: $6 adult, $4 child (4-12 years). Single tickets are available at VONS (no Family Packs, but no fees either.)
Tickets are available at each entrance gate the night of the event at standard rates of $8 adult, $6 child (4-12 years). Single tickets only at gate. Children 3 and under are FREE!
Did you know? Ticket prices have not changed in over 14 years! We strive to keep this event affordable and enjoyable for Ventura's families!

This community celebration (2017) would not be possible without the support of sponsors! Seriously, ticket sales alone do not come even close to covering the event costs. So please join Ventura Rotary in thanking these organizations and businesses for their critical support!
Foremost is our presenting sponsor, Community Memorial Health System, which will once again be providing free professional face painting and glow sticks at their tent! Thank you CMHS! The Ventura Auto Center and Hofer Properties continue to drive us wild with their generous support. Thank you Ventura Auto Center! Other major sponsors include Aera Energy, CBC Federal Credit Union, Ventura Water, and Ventura Environmental Sustainability. We also thank Bill & Elise Kearney, California Resources Corp., Pacific Western Bank, Rasmussen and Associates, Concours Motors, Asian Autotech of Ventura, Ted Mayr Funeral Home, Myers Widders Gibson Jones & Feingold LLP, Case Realty, Kipp Financial and Irene Henry State Farm. We also appreciate the in-kind support and partnership of Gold Coast Broadcasting, EJ Harrison, Hilford Moving & Storage, Sunbelt Rentals, Fastsigns and Ventura-area Vons stores.
Finally, extra special thanks to our incredible hosts, the beautiful Ventura College!

Yes, your ticket is good for admission for the holder of the ticket. IDs/names are not checked. Also, the "Family Packs" are good for the indicated number of admissions however all persons must enter the gate together. (For example, if you arrive at the gate with a "Family 5 Pack" ticket, 5 persons may enter at that time.) Children ages 3 and under are FREE. There is NO re-admittance after exiting the event (NO in-out privileges.)
Do I have to print my online ticket at home and bring to the event?
You may either bring your printed ticket or (save paper and ink) and simply have the ticket's barcode displayed on your mobile phone for scanning at the gate.
What is the refund policy?
There are no refunds. All ticket sales are final.
Why do you charge an entry fee for this event?
This event is not funded by the City or the College, though they are both gracious and invaluable partners in working with us! It is put on by a 100% volunteer staff spearheaded by the Rotary Club of Ventura. Tickets sales do NOT cover the hard costs of putting on the event (a first-class fireworks show isn't cheap and, well, the port-a-potties don't magically appear and disappear on their own!) So the event is really made possible by YOU, the paying attendee, and by the sponsors. Any net proceeds from the event go directly back into the community in the form of local Rotary programs and Rotary's support for many charitable and community programs. For example, the 2015 fireworks show helped to support the Coats for Kids project, helped the Boys & Girls Club get a new van, assisted local food pantry programs, pitched in to the Phoenix Scholarships at Ventura College, and assisted other programs too! So please know that your ticket purchase not only makes the event possible, it also supports your community. Thank you!
The event takes place on the Ventura College Athletic Fields, located on the west end of campus. The address for Ventura College is 4667 Telegraph Rd., Ventura, CA 93003. Gates open at 5 pm. The fireworks show begins at approximately 9 pm. Tickets can be bought in advance (at lower pre-sale rate) here online or at local VONS stores. Tickets are also sold at the entrance gate.
